What You’ll Do:

Machinify is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to lead efforts on our flagship data science product. Candidates should have prior experience proactively driving a technical project to production and delivering measurable business impact. Will be required to work hands-on and obtain a deep understanding of healthcare data and work hands-on. 

Responsibilities include:

• Generate revenue for the Machinify Payments business by building models to identify erroneous medical claims for our insurance payer customers.

• Prioritize work and make technical decisions based on measured real-world value.

• Empirically test models using historical data. Establish features and methods to be used across the team.

• Collaborate with engineers and provide clear requirements to build and test software.

• Contribute to a scaled and automated modeling architecture with production-quality code.

• Communicate findings and business results to non-technical stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Key skills and minimum qualifications include:

• Extensive hands-on experience with data science and engineering in a business environment.

• Experience leading projects and delivering technical products with measurable impact.

• Analytical, first principles approach to problem solving and data-driven decision making.

• Able to write efficient and effective queries on complex data. Strong in Python or Scala.

• Experience with cloud-based services and enterprise software environments.

• Ability to balance trade-offs among multiple competing priorities.  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or STEM disciplines

• Experience with natural language processing models

• Experience with ML engineering and building large-scale production data pipelines.

• Plus if the candidate has worked with medical records and/or insurance claims.

  The base salary for this position will vary based on an array of factors unique to each candidate such as qualifications, years and depth of experience, skill set, certifications, etc. The base salary range for this role is $168k-228k. We are hiring for different seniorities, and our Recruiting team will let you know if you qualify for a different role/range. Salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes meaningful equity, excellent healthcare, flexible time off, and other benefits and perks.
