  • Provider Relations Specialist II requires knowledge of multistate workers’ compensation medical fee schedules, medical guidelines, medical terminology, Current Procedural Terminology, International Classification of Diseases—Clinical Modification, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System, and the Workers’ Compensation Act.
Responsibilities
  • Use automated call distribution phone lines to manage incoming calls and inquiries.
  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers by telephone, email, and fax.
  • Manage confidential client information in accordance with department and company guidelines.
  • Identify problems, determine root causes, provide solutions, and escalate complex problems appropriately.
  • Respond to written and verbal provider inquiries relating to bill review analysis.
  • Type, photocopy, and fax documents as needed.
  • Create and process reconsiderations.
  • Perform technical reviews of complex medical bills, including modifiers, anesthesia, and psychiatric billing.
  • Analyze complex billings for multistate workers’ compensation medical claims to determine the appropriateness of billed services.
  • Make bill review processing determinations according to rules, regulations, and third-party partner requirements.
  • Evaluate medical bills and corresponding Explanation of Review documents for accuracy and compliance with state fee schedules, mandates, business rules, and guidelines.
  • Review inpatient hospital, outpatient hospital, and multiple-surgery billings.
  • Review, analyze, adjust, and release queued bills accurately and promptly.
  • Use fee schedules, Current Procedural Terminology, International Classification of Diseases—Clinical Modification, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System, and other industry publications to support findings.
  • Provide phone backup to the Provider Relations Team as needed.
