Requirements
  • Earned master’s degree as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner (CPNP-AC)
  • Eligible for South Carolina APRN licensure
  • Hold national certification as a CPNP-AC
  • At least two years of APRN practice experience in pediatric acute care
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and abilities
  • Current BLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or the Military Training Network
  • MSN-prepared candidates must enroll in a doctoral (DNP or PhD) program within the first two years of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Assistant Dean for Graduate Practice Programs in leading, organizing, managing, and evaluating the Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC) track
  • Conduct annual reviews and ongoing updates of course content, objectives, and assessments to meet national nursing education standards
  • Oversee student clinical placements each semester in collaboration with the Clinical Education Coordinator and designated faculty
  • Serve as the primary advisor for students in the PNP-AC track
  • Evaluate Learning Intensives and course feedback to recommend necessary revisions to the Assistant Dean for Graduate Practice Programs
  • Review and update program handbooks, clinical guidelines, program policies, and syllabus templates annually and as needed
  • Facilitate innovative, competency-based online teaching in an asynchronous environment and participate in on-campus Learning Intensives when not in clinical practice
  • Lead and collaborate on faculty teams to develop, review, and revise curriculum and courses to ensure quality improvement and alignment with contemporary trends in graduate education and the AACN Essentials for Nursing Education
  • Assist in recruiting and evaluating faculty and adjunct faculty within the PNP-AC program
  • Engage in professional CPNP-AC practice in an acute care setting as part of the faculty contract
  • Precept MUSC CON PNP-AC students in the practice setting
  • Maintain CPNP-AC credentials, licensure, and national certifications required to practice as a CPNP-AC
  • Maintain a record of scholarship through dissemination, presentations, and publications that are consistent with the college appointment, promotion, and tenure (APT) guidelines
  • Oversee the supervision of PNP-AC students in clinical settings, evaluate clinical settings/preceptors
  • Facilitate DNP scholarly project work as assigned
  • Attend course, program, and college meetings in person or via web-based technology
  • Adhere to MUSC College of Nursing policies
  • Maintain proficiency as an educator and clinician
  • Support the college’s values for an environment and culture of respect, inclusivity, equity, and belonging.
Desired Qualifications
  • Earned DNP or doctoral degree in nursing or a related field
  • Current national board certification as a CPNP-AC
  • Demonstrated evidence of at least three years of prior teaching experience
  • Course development and maintenance experience
  • Leadership roles in the academic setting
  • Demonstrated program of scholarship
  • Teaching experience, including precepting APRN students
  • Experience with or interest in competency-based education, case-based or problem-based teaching
  • Experience in graduate online teaching methods.
