- Five to ten years of recent experience installing, configuring, patching, and automating Red Hat Linux server builds using Kickstart and Puppet automation.
- System migrations in Red Hat Linux and UNIX (AIX) environments.
- Expert in installation, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Red Hat Linux and AIX UNIX servers.
- Five or more years of server administration experience with VMware 5.1 or later (VMware 6.x a plus).
- Five or more years of Cisco Unified Computing System implementation and configuration experience.
- Experience with 100+ VMware ESX hosts or 500+ virtual servers a plus.
- Red Hat Linux System Architecture and Administration.
- Red Hat 5.10, 6.2 and 6.5.
- System build automation using Puppet.
- Subject Matter Expert in VMware and Linux virtualization.
- Subject Matter Expert in Cisco UCS and Linux virtualization.
- EMC Storage implementation.
- Script writing.
- Single-Sign-On implementation experience (Centrify).
- Provide expert level Linux/Red Hat engineering with VMware configuration and implementation, including cluster builds and firmware upgrades.
- Design the best hardware solution for the Cisco UCS cluster builds.
- Work with Operations to rack and stack all Cisco UCS hardware.
- Responsible for fabric design on the Cisco UCS environment.
- Configure Cisco UCS hardware and software, including Fabric Interconnects.
- Build and configure ESXi hosts and join them to clusters.
- Support operational activities such as level three system support, root cause analysis, systems validation, performance tuning, and capacity management; work with Operations to improve monitoring and alerting.
- Represent IT Engineering Services on global project teams through implementation of new infrastructure systems, including project planning and adherence to global project methodologies; provide status reports and attend team meetings.
- Apply best practices for performance tuning of servers.
- Upgrade system software and hardware components as required to meet customer needs.
- Maintain system configuration documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures and Installation Qualification/Operational Qualification, software installation instructions, operating system installation, and system configuration sheets.
- Comply with SOX and IT Compliance protocols.
- Experience with other flavors of Linux is a plus.
- Experience with other flavors of UNIX is a plus (AIX).
