Job Description
In this position, you will be responsible for Fault Isolation and Failure Analysis on next-generation SSD’s and memory device packaging technologies supporting product qualifications, and customer returns. The goal is to analyze and identify failure mechanisms, providing input on the potential cause of failure and corrective action to mitigate against further failures.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Perform incoming Failure Analysis intake and processing (Document creation, Drive log pull, and Visual inspection)
- Perform electrical validation and fault isolation on Customer SSD returns and work with Engineer to find the physical defects associated with the electrical failure.
- Be able to clearly comment about the failure mode and mechanism.
- Assist Engineering team in evaluating incoming Customer or Qualification SSD’s Failure Analysis requests to determine the root cause of failure.
- Understanding and utilizing various lab equipment such as multimeter, Oscilloscope, optical microscopes, Solder Reflow, X-ray imaging, polishers, decapsulation systems, as well as mechanical and chemical sample preparation and others to understand the failure mode and mechanism.
- Be able to work full-time on-site at Rancho Cordova campus
- Some work may require working with third party labs or suppliers to perform the necessary tests.

- The candidate must possess a High School Diploma with 3+ year’s relevant experience or an Associate’s Degree in an Engineering/Science field.
- Must be willing to work in a lab environment spending most of the time in the lab working on fault isolation/failure analysis tools and support.
- Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and gloves.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with tools in a lab environment such as polishers, cross-section tools, microscopes, X-Ray, thermal imaging
- Experience reading basic schematic and PCB files for electrical inspection
- Experience with using solder station and advanced rework is a plus
- Experience working with engineering to setup of SSD SW FA tools for experiments or other lab activities
- Experience using production debug testers and optical probing tools.
