Requirements
  • Current, active Registered Nurse license in the State of New York.
  • Progressive nursing experience in a geriatric setting.
  • Ability to provide quality, compassionate care to residents.
  • Patience and willingness to assist residents and coworkers.
  • Communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, remain flexible, and work harmoniously with staff.
Responsibilities
  • Organize, oversee, and supervise assigned unit activities, including staff assignments, while demonstrating clinical expertise consistent with established nursing practice standards.
  • Identify and respond appropriately and promptly to patient needs.
  • Monitor, observe, and document vital signs, treatments administered, and patient responses.
  • Administer medications and treatments as needed.
  • Communicate and direct ongoing services, plans, concerns, and information to appropriate team members, residents, families, or medical staff.
  • Identify and follow disciplinary action as stated in policy.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, physicians, and external vendors or services.
  • Perform registered nurse assessments after incidents or changes in a resident’s condition.
  • Lead and direct emergency situations, including fire alarms and elopements.
  • Maintain accurate nursing reports, staffing sheets, and census rosters.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience with geriatric, short-term rehabilitation, or Alzheimer’s patients is desirable.
  • Supervisory experience is preferred.
