Title: Lead Data Scientist

Duties: The Lead Data Scientist at Earnest LLC in San Francisco, CA will design and implement infrastructure that the data team and other data scientists will use to execute on machine-learning projects as well as data visualization rules. Develop SLO models and design the protocols for meta-data management at Earnest. Determine how data should be tagged (meta-data) and stored for our company. These protocols will be followed by all other Data Engineers performing ETL functions or data-ingestion functions, including tools used at Earnest for data extraction and management. Lead, test, and implement software scoring models for our product, and will test, design, and model the data pipeline that feeds into all created models. Score data models used for internal audits. Prepare recommendations for Portfolio Risk and Credit Operations toward credit policy based on data analyses. Present results to senior leadership in order to drive solutions, including for projected approval and default rates in our scoring models across all products. Drive data-driven machine-learning models and manage the operation of a data pipeline that feeds Earnest data into AI libraries used to train machine-learning algorithms. Train other data engineers on meta-data schema, resolve complex Looker issues, and serve as the point of contact for making business intelligence data internally available. This position is 100% remote; can telecommute from anywhere in the U.S. Salary: $199,098 - $231,000 per year.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of work experience designing and building machine learning algorithms. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, plus five years of experience, will accept a Master’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Industrial Engineering or a closely related field plus 3 years of experience in designing and building machine learning algorithms.Must also have three years of experience with each of the following: 1) Machine Learning; 2) Experience building boosted gradient trees, or Neural Networks; 3) ETL Pipeline and task scheduling tools, including Mattilion or Airflow; and 4) Business Intelligence tooling and maintaining the BI tools Tableau and Looker.
