Requirements
  • The candidate must be a Registered Nurse with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the state.
  • The candidate must have a bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program by the National League for Nursing.
  • The candidate must have three years of management experience within the last five years in hospice, including at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • The candidate must have four years of Registered Nurse experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic, or health facility, including at least one year in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
  • The candidate must have knowledge and expertise in clinical decision-making for the patient population and quality management review and evaluation for the organization.
  • The candidate must be able to supervise and direct professional administrative personnel.
  • The candidate must be able to market and deal tactfully with customers and the community.
  • The candidate must have observation, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
  • The candidate must have knowledge of business management, governmental regulations, and CHAP standards.
Responsibilities
  • The role coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel.
  • The role provides guidance and counseling to coordinators and Clinical Supervisors/Nursing Supervisors to improve all aspects of home health care services delivered by organization personnel.
  • The role assists Clinical Supervisors/Nursing Supervisors in managing clinical teams and planning.
  • The role supports assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient and family or caregiver care by clinical personnel.
  • The role assists the Executive Director/Administrator with preparing and administering the organization's budget.
  • The role interprets operational indicators to identify census changes and volume changes that may affect staffing levels, revenues, or expenses.
  • The role evaluates the performance of Clinical Supervisors/Nursing Supervisors.
  • The role assists Clinical Supervisors/Nursing Supervisors in developing skills and techniques for evaluating clinicians' performance.
  • The role hires, evaluates, and terminates organization personnel.
  • The role conducts clinical performance evaluations annually or more frequently when indicated.
  • The role oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for evaluating and reporting organizational activities.
  • The role ensures that clinical records are maintained in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • The role maintains adequate and appropriate inventory, supplies, and equipment for providing patient services.
  • The role develops, implements, and evaluates the orientation program for new organization personnel and is responsible for their orientation directly or through delegation.
  • The role plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet the education and training needs of organization personnel.
  • The role assists with evaluating organizational performance through performance improvement programs, productivity reviews, and quarterly and annual reviews.
  • The role ensures the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided by the organization.
  • The role assists in developing organizational goals and develops, recommends, and administers organizational policies and procedures.
