As a Regional Privacy Officer supporting our Data Privacy team, you will be trusted to provide leadership and oversight of our data privacy program and privacy activities for operations in the United States and Canada. You will work under the direction of the Global Head of Data Privacy in Fort Worth, Texas office.

In this role, a typical day will include:

• Contribute to, and provide support for, the delivery and operationalizing of the global and regional privacy function annual program, its objectives and critical metrics in the US and Canada.

• Provide proactive, pragmatic and focused privacy support for commercial strategy and business objectives.

• Serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert to US/Canadian business leadership and Legal & Compliance teams on data privacy issues and privacy regulations.

• Implement programs/procedures to establish and maintain compliance with the new US (State) and Canadian privacy regulation requirements taking effect in 2022/2023 and beyond.

• Support the rollout of all forms of training and education in the US and Canada on privacy matters.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• Juris Doctorate Degree.

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.

• 10 Years of directly related experience.

• 6 Years of demonstrated leadership.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Working knowledge of US InfoSec laws in order to give complete US privacy related advice.

• Knowledge of Privacy compliance software.

• Privacy-related experience in the healthcare products or medical device industry.

HOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:

• Establish and advocate for appropriate tools (including privacy compliance software) and resources to ensure compliance with privacy laws and regulations in the US and Canada.

• Build and maintain scientific and business expertise pertaining to Alcon’s businesses, in order to fully understand and support Alcon data privacy related business needs.

• Build and maintain collaborative relationships across Alcon functions including with Global Head of Privacy and other regional privacy officers, Legal & Compliance teams, designated Local Privacy Officers, IT and InfoSec, R&D, Marketing and HR.

• Coordinate the use of outside counsel (and consultants if applicable) to provide effective and appropriate advice on privacy-related matters.

• Negotiate privacy related terms and conditions in commercial contracts.
