About the Role
As a Staff Engineer, IT Infrastructure and Systems, you will be responsible for the reliability and support of Corporate IT systems and applications. This role will work closely with IT colleagues, business stakeholders and external vendors/partners.
Let’s talk about some of the key responsibilities of the role:
- Manage and support Tarsus’s Corporate IT systems – Azure cloud, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Office 365, and Okta IAM (Identity and Access management)
- Implement comprehensive network and server infrastructure strategies to execute tasks efficiently and secure our IT systems against emerging threats.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- Manage Windows and Linux servers, storage systems and databases (SQL & Oracle)
- Manage the organization’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
- Responsible for configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure.
- Implement and maintain network security measures to protect against cyber threats.
- Continuously monitor and optimize system performance, leveraging data analytics and performance metrics to drive improvements.
- Implement and Support Disaster recovery and data backup solutions.
- Creates IT policies and procedures for system administration, software and hardware access, and identity management.
- Ensure IT security standards and remediate vulnerabilities detected within IT systems.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on infrastructure-related projects and initiatives and collaborate with applications teams to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues.
- Work with helpdesk lead to improve IT support processes and implement efficiencies.
- Support and train business users on IT best practices.
- Participate in regulatory and compliance audits.
- Work with internal customers to gather requirements and provide appropriate IT solutions.
- Work with Vendors and partners to ensure SLAs and deliverables are met.
- Evaluate new tools and technologies that fit the business needs, and support IT roadmap.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems with at least 10 years of relevant work experience in implementing enterprise IT systems, preferably in biotech, pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
- Strong experience with Azure Cloud and Azure Active Directory, Windows Servers, Single Sign-On, DNS and related Microsoft technologies
- Strong experience in Infrastructure Network, switching concepts, spanning tree, VLAN concepts, SD-Wan and VPN concepts.
- Strong networking experience - LAN/WAN, Firewall, Routers, Switches, Meraki Wi-Fi
- Experience in scripting - Windows PowerShell, Shell Script, Perl script, required to know how to automate manual tasks/processes
- Experience with monitoring tools and observability – Newrelic, Dynatrace, Nagios etc.
- Experience with Identity and Access management solutions, like Okta Single Sign-On.
- Experience managing IT security landscape, preferably using Rapid7
- Experience supporting GxP systems and applications in a regulated environment
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and SOX compliance
- Experience with ITIL framework and methodology – ServiceNow experience is a plus
- Familiarity with agile development and project management methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, crucial in managing complex systems and solving network and security issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks based on the criticality and risks.

- The position will be based in our beautiful Irvine office, complete with a courtyard, snacks and drinks, and occasional catered meals. We provide a hybrid work environment.
- This position reports directly to Head of IT infrastructure and Operations
- Some travel may be required – up to 5 to 10%
At Tarsus, we understand the importance of attracting and retaining top talent. The expected base pay range for this position is $121,500 - $170,100 plus bonus, stock equity, and comprehensive benefits. The base pay range reflects the target range for this position, but individual pay will be determined by additional factors such as job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
