Requirements
  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 5+ years, AA/AS with 7+ year’s experience or substitute with 9+ years of relevant experience working with network infrastructure, with focus on Extreme Networks products and solutions.
  • CCNA Certification or equivalent required.
  • Require anyone of the following IAT Level II (CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, or SSCP) Certification and applicable CE/OS Certification.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including but not limited to LAN, WAN, routing, switching, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network security.
  • Certified to work on Extreme Networks products, such as switches, routers, access points, and network management tools. Holding relevant industry certifications.
  • Adept at troubleshooting complex network issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in managing network-related projects, including planning, implementation, and documentation, including network upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure expansions.
  • Possess a combination of experience and skills with the following manufacturers and applications: VMware NSX: Install, Configure, Manage (V6.2); Ruckus Layer 2 Switches / Wireless Controller / Wireless Access Points; Palo Alto Networks Firewall knowledge of PA-7050 / PA-3060 / PA-3260 / PA-5450 / WildFire/URL Filtering /Brocade MPLS Implementation Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches; Cisco Networks switches and routers; Aruba Networks Excellent knowledge of Wireless Controllers / Access Points / Airwave / ClearPass; Ciena 100G OME 6500 DWDM System; Extreme Networks Layer 2/3, MLXE Switches /Extreme IQ / OSPF, BGP, and MPLS l; SolarWinds, InMon Sentinel, Uptrends
Responsibilities
  • Serve as network engineer Lead. Responsibilities include monitoring, testing, and analyzing all elements of the network facilities. The duties will include planning, installation, maintenance during or after-work hours, troubleshooting, and network management
  • Academic Network Administration: Ensures the datacenter operates 24x7 with DoD-directed updates and security patches.
  • Academic Network Performance Monitoring: Monitor, document, and control the Academic Network performance for response, throughput, and availability.
  • Academic Network Internet Hardware and Software Issues: Identify and resolve hardware and software issues related to the commercial network’s wireless and hardwired elements.
  • Academic Network Improvements and Enhancements: Identify opportunities and solutions for improving efficiencies with emerging technologies.
  • Academic Network Internet IP Addressing and DNS Management: Manage the Academic Network internet IP addressing schemes to ensure maximum availability
  • Academic Network Cybersecurity: Manage the Cybersecurity Network and Boundary Defense, Intrusion Detection tools and Techniques, and Incident Response.
  • Academic Network Cybersecurity Practices: Research, recommend, and implement best business practices for controlling and monitoring access to the Academic Network1.
  • On-Site Engineer (OSE) Extreme Certified services: Maintain the reliability and security of the DLIFLC Network's voice, data, and wireless services.
