Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
  • Three years related nursing experience
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA)
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required
Responsibilities
  • Maintains roster of IBD and other complex GI patients
  • Assesses the health status of children through history taking, identify normal and abnormal findings
  • Uses expert clinical judgment and decision making skills to predict potential and actual patient problems and utilizes resources to address problems
  • Coordinates the individualized plan of care for patients in area of specialty through consultation and coordination of the interdisciplinary team to improve identified patient outcomes and applying analytical reasoning, reflection, rational problem-solving skills, using evidence-based information and clinical judgment
  • Utilizes appropriate community resources to improve patient outcomes and family adaptation to patient care needs
  • Maintains up-to-date patient records by documenting all orders, care plans and interaction with the patient, family or interdisciplinary team members in the EMR
  • Organizes and prepares for complex clinics in an efficient organized method that maximizes provider time and utilization of organizational resources, ensuring proper medical records are available
  • Immediately grasps deviations from the expected range of patient / family responses and accurately provides interventions to improve outcomes
  • Favorably affects the cost, quality and outcomes of services provided by modifying the practice patterns of peers and other disciplines and contributing to the development or modification of services where the need exists
  • Safely performs technical skills in area of practice. Demonstrates practice based on knowledge of hospital/outpatient policies, procedures, nursing standards, and legal issues including regulatory requirements and National Patient Safety goals in areas of specialty.
