- Develop strong relationships with customers.
- Learn from store and pharmacy team members, field leadership, and customers or patients.
- Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy, and comply with the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Perform duties assigned and supervised by the pharmacist according to Walgreens standard operating procedures for entering, third-party processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care and services within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns, including patient counseling and health services such as blood pressure measurement and medication therapy management.
- Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and follow company policies and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Adhere to the Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing.
- Register related sales on the assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required, and assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
- Assist and support Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged prescription-drug merchandise.
- Maintain the Pharmacy Department by ensuring adequate supplies and a clean, neat, and orderly condition and appearance.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other assigned tasks.
- Complete required training.
- Maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and developments.
- Six months of experience in a retail environment is preferred.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens is preferred.
- Good math skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications, are preferred.
