Oracle Exadata Database@AWS launches with cost trade-offs and licensing complexity

Oracle has launched its Exadata Database Service on AWS, adding high-performance database capabilities to its Database@AWS offering that went live last year. The service allows Oracle to place hardware inside AWS datacenters, with customers able to connect to EC2, analytics, and AI services. Licensing experts warn of trade-offs in adopting the service. Whilst Database@AWS can require fewer processors than AWS's RDS, compute and storage costs are higher and service options less granular. Nick Walter from House of Brick notes the licensing metrics favour bring-your-own-license customers, but warns Oracle sales representatives may not highlight downsides. Craig Guarente of Palisade Compliance suggests Oracle has created barriers to cloud migration, pushing customers towards its services. Hyperscalers cooperate with Oracle whilst simultaneously encouraging customers to migrate Oracle applications to their native database services.

Kerala to host cybersecurity summit.

Kerala to host cybersecurity summit. Kochi will host the Kerala Cyber Suraksha Summit 2026 with global technology leaders including Oracle, AWS, Google, Microsoft, Cisco and Zscaler, bringing experts together to discuss cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, AI security, cloud security, digital trust, cyber resilience and emerging cyber threats. Kerala is set to strengthen its position in India's cybersecurity ecosystem with the Kerala Cyber Suraksha Summit 2026, bringing together some of the world's leading technology companies in Kochi on September 5. Global technology giants including Oracle, Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft, Cisco and Zscaler will support KCSS 2026. Their participation highlights the growing importance of Kerala's digital and cybersecurity ecosystem and the increasing focus on cyber resilience, AI security and digital trust. The summit is expected to attract more than 1,000 delegates, over 40 speakers, 20 expert-led sessions and more than 15 technology partners. Discussions will cover key areas such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital trust, cyber resilience and the changing nature of cyber threats. KCSS 2026 is being organised by F9 Infotech in collaboration with Kerala Startup Mission. The event is also supported by organisations including the Data Security Council of India, TiE Kerala and the Cochin Chamber of Commerce & Industry, along with technology, industry, academic and community partners. The summit comes as businesses and governments rapidly adopt AI, cloud computing and digital platforms, while facing increasingly complex cybersecurity challenges. The event will focus on strengthening resilience rather than limiting cybersecurity efforts to traditional defence measures. The discussions will look at how governments, businesses and digital ecosystems can better prepare for cyber threats, respond to attacks and recover from disruptions. A key feature of the summit will also be the first KCSS Cyber Excellence Awards 2026, which will honour individuals and organisations for their contributions to India's cybersecurity sector. With major global technology companies and cybersecurity experts participating, KCSS 2026 is expected to become an important platform for discussions on India's digital security, AI security and cyber resilience.

GlobalM integrates GMX platform with Oracle cloud.

GlobalM integrates GMX platform with Oracle cloud. The move enables GMX to optimise infrastructure for applications from SRT and RIST gateways to transcoding, remultiplexing and high-throughput media distribution Published: August 21, 2026 GlobalM has integrated its GMX software-defined with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), aiming to drive access to an increased global footprint for media organisations. Creating a software-defined network on OCI, GMX automates the deployment of compute, networking, media processing and routing resources, said the company. Infrastructure is configured on demand, with point-to-multipoint contribution and distribution paths automatically established. Resources can be scaled to meet requirements and automatically released on completion, enabling broadcasters to dynamically schedule and consume OCI infrastructure as needed. Compute and memory resources can be configured to individual requirements with OCI Flexible Shapes, enabling GMX to optimise infrastructure for applications from SRT and RIST gateways to transcoding, remultiplexing and high-throughput media distribution, said the company. Automatically deployable across OCI locations, GMX processing and routing nodes enable contribution feeds to enter the cloud near to their source and receiving broadcasters to connect close to their location, ensuring the first and last miles are kept as short as possible while core workflow takes place across managed cloud infrastructure. Paul Calleja, CEO of GlobalM, said: "We are very excited to be working with Oracle. Combining OCI's global infrastructure and flexible compute with GMX automation allows us to dynamically build and operate a complete cloud MCR, from processing and routing through to global distribution. OCI is an excellent fit for the demanding requirements of live broadcast, and we see significant opportunities for what we can achieve together." Kip Schauer, senior product manager, OCI Media Partnerships, Oracle, added, "GlobalM has built an innovative platform that brings greater automation and flexibility to live media workflows. By bringing GMX to OCI, we're combining GlobalM's software-defined approach with OCI's high-performance infrastructure and global reach to help broadcasters simplify and scale live contribution, processing, and distribution across cloud and hybrid environments."

Oracle expands AI healthcare tools with automated coding and chart review after $28.3B Cerner acquisition

Oracle is expanding AI capabilities within its healthcare platform, adding automated coding, chart review, and clinician-controlled dictation to its Clinical AI Agent. The tools analyse patient visit conversations to suggest charge codes, compile medical histories, and provide real-time transcription. Oracle Health, built largely on the company's $28.3 billion Cerner acquisition, sells electronic health records and clinical software to hospitals. Oracle says its existing AI note-generation technology has saved US healthcare organisations over 400,000 physician hours. The company generated $67.4 billion in fiscal 2026 revenue, with cloud revenue jumping 39% to $34 billion. Healthcare providers face persistent administrative workloads, and reducing documentation time could strengthen customer retention whilst providing economic justification for additional AI tool adoption. Clinicians retain responsibility for final decisions as AI moves into clinical workflows.
