Requirements
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • The ability to produce power distribution schematics, panel schedules, lighting and grounding plans, and other system diagrams aligned with industry standards and client criteria is required.
  • Proficiency in interpreting electrical one-line diagrams, creating construction documents, and collaborating within multidisciplinary project teams is required.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code and NFPA, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed electrical design drawings and technical documentation supporting process equipment installation design packages, tool hookup design, subfab rack and lateral design, and cleanroom and facility modification support.
  • Determine conduit, conductor, and wire sizing while accounting for current loads and environmental variables.
  • Assess cable tray fills to support proper cable management, organization, and future scalability.
  • Perform short circuit calculations to determine fault currents, select protective devices, and ensure system safety and reliability.
  • Perform voltage drop calculations to ensure electrical system stability and compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure electrical designs adhere to applicable local, state, and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Apply electrical design techniques such as load flow analysis and fault current calculations, adapting and modifying design concepts as needed while adhering to company, team, and industry design standards.
  • Work with Designers, Senior Engineers, Project Managers, and other stakeholders on assigned objectives, complex features, and solutions to unusual problems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary groups, including Mechanical, Structural, Process/Chemical, and Architectural teams, as well as inter-company teams, to optimize efficiency, quality, and resource allocation.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate degree in engineering or architectural fields is preferred.
  • Experience with Revit, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and/or EasyPower is a plus.

SHYFT Collective design team acquired by SSOE Group. SSOE Group, a global architecture and engineering firm headquartered in Toldeo, Ohio, announced the acquisition of Des Moines-based SHYFT Collective's architecture and design team to enhance its service capacity in the Des Moines and Columbus, Ohio, markets. "Our clients will continue working with the same trusted team, now supported by the scale and experience of SSOE," Steve Reynolds, founding partner and principal of SHYFT, said in a prepared statement. "SSOE brings the capacity and portfolio of a firm that successfully delivers projects of every size and complexity. With their resources behind us, we now can execute larger scopes and provide a full range of services under one roof while also creating more informed designs using computational and AI powered tools." The acquisition closed on Oct. 10, with Shyft Construction continuing to operate independently in the Iowa and Ohio markets. Founded in 1948, SSOE is a global design firm with more than 1,400 employees and 20 offices worldwide.
