Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or Medical Assistant certification is required.
  • An active and current Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • At least two years of relevant experience as a Medical Assistant is required.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, preferably eCW, is required.
  • The ability to lift, move, and assist patients as needed is required.
  • Certification in Medical Translation is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams, is required.
  • Proficiency with Power BI and Oracle for expense management is required.
  • Experience with TripMaster or similar transportation scheduling software is required.
  • Experience with RingCentral is required.
  • Experience with Workday for human resources and time management is required.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required.
  • The ability to stand, sit, walk, and occasionally climb is required.
  • The ability to travel to assigned clinical sites as needed is required.
Responsibilities
  • Interview patients and document their chief complaints, health concerns, and medical history.
  • Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
  • Perform pre-visit planning and intake procedures.
  • Administer vaccines and injections and document them in applicable systems.
  • Conduct point-of-care testing, including COVID-19, flu, glucose, urine dipstick, and PT/INR testing.
  • Perform phlebotomy, prepare laboratory requisitions, and manage specimen collection and transport.
  • Assist with electrocardiograms, spirometry, RetinaVue imaging, and other diagnostic workflows.
  • Maintain infection-control standards, including appropriate personal protective equipment use and biohazard-material disposal.
  • Prepare and sanitize treatment and examination rooms according to safety protocols.
  • Operate emergency equipment such as automated external defibrillators as needed.
  • Prepare provider encounters in the electronic medical record, including documentation setup and chart reviews.
  • Reconcile medications and assist with prescription refill requests.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up activities.
  • Print and review end-of-visit summaries with patients.
  • Coordinate referrals and hand-offs to specialists or care coordinators.
  • Update visit status, verify pharmacy details, and close encounters promptly.
  • Document and assist with HEDIS care-gap measures, including PHQ-9, COA, fall risk, cancer screenings, and A1c.
  • Assist with appointment confirmations and follow scheduling protocols.
  • Support transportation scheduling when applicable.
  • Promote and assist with patient portal enrollment.
  • Make outreach calls for wellness checks, emergency preparedness, and appointment rescheduling.
  • Help patients navigate care and recoveries after hospitalization or urgent care visits.
  • Collaborate with front-desk and clinical teams to maintain smooth clinic flow.
  • Clear telephone encounters and respond to clinical messages promptly.
  • Maintain current electronic filing of documentation within 48 hours.
  • Monitor faxes, EMR Jellybeans, and task buckets for timely action.
  • Use Availity, state immunization portals, LabCorp, Quest, diagnostic and specialist portals, and Cano.Net.
  • Support prior-authorization processes.
  • Work at a computer and on the phone for extended periods.
  • Drive or travel to assigned clinics and territories as needed.

  • Gait training and Americans with Disabilities Act training are recommended.
