The Trust & Safety team has the essential responsibility of protecting Credit Karma’s members and partners by securing our online processes and preventing online fraud and abuse throughout the Credit Karma product suite. This role in particular will focus on investigating identity and account takeover fraud, monitoring fraud prevention systems performance, developing and optimizing Credit Karma’s fraud prevention systems and processes.
What you’ll do:
- You’ll use your analytical skills, online fraud expertise, and hands-on data analysis to identify complex fraud patterns and their root causes in the identity fraud and account takeover domains;
- You’ll use data from a variety of sources to build investigative fraud stories that will inform product decisions on the Credit Karma platform;
- You’ll help develop, manage and optimize strategies and policies that aim to prevent, detect and mitigate identity fraud and abuse on Credit Karma;
- You’ll develop effective metrics to measure performance of fraud prevention systems, solutions, rules, and methodologies;
- You’ll build strong relations with product, data science, operations, and engineering teams at Credit Karma, its vendors and partners to achieve these goals.

What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years of fraud analytics or data-driven investigation experience;
- Intermediate SQL skills or above; Python is a plus;
- Fraud domain expertise in areas such as identity fraud, account opening fraud, login fraud and account takeover, credit and lending fraud, etc.;
- Experience researching root cause of issues involving complex internal processes;
- High level of intellectual curiosity; Ability to ask the right questions to get a good understanding of the problem;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively.

Pay Transparency Notice: Credit Karma’s mission of championing financial progress for all starts from within. That’s why we implemented role-based compensation, which ensures people who are in the same role receive the same pay with variations for geographic location only. It’s all part of a more comprehensive DEI strategy that helps level the playing field. The base salary range for this role is $148,427 to $163,609, plus equity and benefits.
