Requirements
  • The candidate must have 8–10+ years of experience in event marketing, event strategy, sponsorship management or integrated marketing.
  • The candidate must have experience leading large-scale event portfolios and managing significant budgets.
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of business-to-business relationship marketing and channel strategy.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead a comprehensive event strategy aligned with business objectives and organizational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise event strategy aligned with business goals, audience needs and marketing priorities.
  • Define the role of events within the broader marketing and sales ecosystem and integrate events with relationship management, education, content and lead-generation initiatives.
  • Create annual event and sponsorship roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
  • Evaluate opportunities and investments based on strategic fit, expected business value and measurable outcomes.
  • Establish event-specific objectives and key performance indicators for major programs and sponsorships.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen broker relationships, improve customer engagement and support business growth through event programming.
  • Develop integrated event programs by region, business line and audience segment.
  • Prioritize investments across conferences, sponsorships, broker events, educational programs and customer initiatives.
  • Oversee the national events calendar in alignment with organizational priorities and resource availability.
  • Recommend adjustments to event investments based on performance, changing business requirements and emerging opportunities.
  • Develop event return-on-investment measurement frameworks and reporting methodologies.
  • Establish dashboards and scorecards to evaluate event performance.
  • Analyze attendance, engagement, broker sentiment, lead generation, sponsorship value, pipeline influence and other performance indicators.
  • Conduct post-event reviews and analyze outcomes to identify trends, opportunities and areas for optimization.
  • Use data analysis and critical thinking to inform recommendations and future investment decisions.
  • Translate findings into actionable insights for senior leadership.
  • Manage annual event budgets exceeding several million dollars across multiple business units.
  • Manage planning, forecasting and budget allocation activities.
  • Evaluate investment effectiveness and optimize spending based on business impact.
  • Monitor budget performance and implement cost efficiencies while maintaining program quality.
  • Ensure vendors and partners deliver maximum value to the organization.
  • Lead negotiations with venues, suppliers, agencies, caterers, production partners and other vendors.
  • Develop preferred supplier relationships where appropriate.
  • Evaluate sponsorship opportunities and recommend investments based on strategic alignment and expected business return.
  • Manage sponsor and partner relationships to maximize value.
  • Lead and develop event-team resources, including direct reports and project-based support resources.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Establish clear goals and performance expectations.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and development of best practices across the team.
  • Partner with Sales, Broker Relations, Product, Marketing, Communications, Digital, Finance and Risk teams.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Influence decision-making through insights, recommendations and business cases.
  • Present strategic recommendations, performance updates and investment proposals to senior leaders.
  • Ensure events are delivered with a consistently high standard of quality and brand experience.
  • Provide strategic oversight on event planning and delivery.
  • Support major events onsite when required.
  • Manage issue resolution and recovery planning for significant event challenges.

EQB appoints Daniel Rethazy as EVP to lead Personal Banking expansion and PC Financial integration

EQB Inc. has appointed Daniel Rethazy as Executive Vice President, Personal Banking, effective 6 April 2026. Rethazy will oversee a unified Personal Banking business integrating residential lending, deposits and the EQ Bank digital platform. Subject to regulatory approval, he will also manage products and channels from EQB's announced acquisition of PC Financial, including the long-term strategic relationship with Loblaw Companies for EQ Bank to become the exclusive banking partner for the PC Optimum programme. CEO Chadwick Westlake described Rethazy as "a generational talent in Canadian banking", noting his experience will accelerate growth for EQB's Personal Banking franchise. The appointment reflects EQB's strategy to compete as a digital-first challenger in Canadian banking whilst scaling operations and strengthening its market position.

EQB posts Q1 adjusted diluted EPS of $2.26, up 48% q/q as efficiency ratio improves to 49.1%

EQB Inc reported first quarter 2026 results with adjusted diluted earnings per share of $2.26, up 48% quarter-over-quarter but down 24% year-over-year. Adjusted net income reached $85.2 million, whilst adjusted return on equity improved to 11.1%. The Canadian digital bank's efficiency ratio improved to 49.1% from 53.6% in the previous quarter, reflecting cost benefits from a strategic restructuring programme. Commercial lending loans under management grew 3% quarter-over-quarter and 19% year-over-year. EQ Bank added 26,000 new customers in the quarter, bringing total customers to 633,000. The company declared a dividend of $0.59 per share, up 16% year-over-year. EQB is progressing with its planned acquisition of PC Financial, having filed regulatory applications in January 2026. The company maintained a CET1 capital ratio of 13.6%.
