Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of medical billing/insurance/coding experience preferred
  • Certified coding certificate a plus
  • Previous skills in healthcare desirable
  • Computer skills required
Responsibilities
  • Perform general administrative duties
  • Greet and interact with patients
  • Check insurance eligibility and update information
  • Obtain benefits for surgical patients
  • Make pre-op calls to surgery patients
  • Obtain authorizations and pre-certifications
  • Understand and explain EOBs to patients
  • Perform charge entry and post patient payments
  • Maintain petty cash and prepare bank deposits
  • Collect co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurances
  • Bill claims to appropriate payer within three days
  • Collect, sort, and distribute mail
  • Respond to requests for medical record information
  • Maintain patient database and confidentiality
  • Reconcile bank statements and accounts receivable
  • Call insurance companies about claim errors/denials
  • Complete cancer policies, FMLA, and Disability forms
  • Perform other administrative or billing duties as assigned
