Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent certification in Health Information Management from an accredited institution and a minimum of (4) four years of DAD and NACRS coding in Canada in a private, public, government or military environment
  • OR
  • High School Diploma/GED and (8) eight years of DAD and NACRS coding in Canada in a private, public, government or military environment
Responsibilities
  • Providing expert support for the development and localization of computer-assisted coding (CAC) for the Canadian market, specifically content related to auto-suggesting coding.
  • Accessing and using database software to create codes for auto-suggestion
  • Accessing and using Solventum 360 Encompass to validate codes for auto-suggestion
  • Analysis of clinical terms and applying learnings to the development of the software
  • Performing concept to code mapping activities
  • Creating new diagnosis and procedural codes for auto-suggestion, with consideration of Canadian coding classification rules and guidelines and knowledge of how codes interact.
  • Translating clinical terms into codes
  • Editing existing diagnosis and procedural codes for auto-suggestion, based on feedback, testing and classification changes.
  • Reviewing and amending code actions based on customer feedback, internally quality control (precision and recall), or classification changes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with ICD-10-CA & CCI and the Canadian Coding standards within a Canadian Acute Care hospital.
  • Strong understanding of the processes associated with documentation in the leading electronic medical record systems used in Canada (EPIC, Cerner, Medtech)
  • Ability to follow established processes, rules and conventions.
  • Ability to meet appropriate deadlines for inclusion in relevant product releases
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365
