The Role:
Generate Biomedicines is looking to expand its Therapeutic Research team by hiring a highly motivated Scientist II for the development of protein based therapeutics for the treatment of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. This position involves developing assays and designing experimental approaches to evaluate Generate’s proprietary biomolecules. The successful candidate will drive innovative immunological research, advance our therapeutic portfolio, guide data analysis, and foster collaboration across the company. The primary responsibilities include designing and executing in vitro assays to support multiple I&I programs. We seek an enthusiastic, innovative, well-organized, and highly motivated individual who has a strong interest to lead from the bench, integrate practical lab experience into portfolio programs, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has extensive experience in immunology, preferably in an industry setting. This is an exciting opportunity with high growth potential in an innovative biotech startup company.
Here’s how you will contribute:
- Provide expert input to advance immunology-related projects and programs, establish and expand wet lab capabilities, train others on lab equipment and experimental protocols, and act as a technical expert for project teams
- Analyze and synthesize complex immunological data to troubleshoot experimental challenges and present findings to diverse internal audiences.
- Contribute to the integration of immunological data into proprietary digital software for data analysis and closely collaborate with data science team members to enhance data usability.
- Influence the alignment of individual and team work with project timelines, anticipate challenges or issues, provide mentorship and guidance, and develop solutions to support project teams.
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- PhD in Immunology or a related field/2-4 years of relevant experience or a MSc in Immunology or a related field/8-10 years of relevant experience or a BSc in Immunology or a related field/10-12 relevant experience in Immunology or a related field with working experience in an academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology settings.
- Extensive experience in immunological research and experimentation, including but not limited to mammalian cell culture methods (Primary cells and cell lines), Flow cytometry, ELISA/Alpha Lisa, Luminex, and sorting techniques (FACS Aria/Bead based)
- Proficiency in data analysis software with strong willingness to learn and incorporate internal data analysis and machine learning tools.
- Experience with lab automation systems is a plus
- Proven track record of innovative research and development in immunology
- Excellent collaboration and cross-functional team skills.
- Expertise in immunological techniques and methodologies.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and digital tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
