  • Ideally, you would have the following qualifications and/or attributes:
  • A degree in ecology or closely related field
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), chartership, or being on the route to chartership (Atkins to cover membership costs
  • Good working knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation, planning policies, licensing requirements and best practice survey techniques
  • Capable at undertaking survey and reporting for Preliminary Ecological Appraisal and Ecological Impact Assessment
  • Demonstrable specialist ecological knowledge, such as botanical survey skills and/or survey skills for one or more protected species, ideally with a focus on Scottish species and habitats
  • Strong botanical and bat survey skills (e.g. bat licenced and/or FISC level 3/4) would be particularly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • A full valid UK/EEC driving licence
  • Leading on nationally important infrastructure projects, managing project programmes and budgets
  • Collaborating with our multi-disciplinary teams and undertaking stakeholder engagement
  • Providing ecological input to a varied range of projects across different sectors
  • Leading, planning and co-ordinating field surveys, analysing and interpreting survey results
  • Working with design teams and planning and co-ordinating ecological mitigation works
  • Undertaking reporting of Preliminary Ecological Assessments, Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments, and Ecological Impact Assessments
  • Preparing protected species licence applications
  • Managing work enquiries, preparing bids and building client relationships
  • Designing and co-ordinating ecological mitigation
  • Authoring and checking/reviewing a range of ecological reports and licence applications
  • Managing work enquiries, preparing bids and building client relationships
