The Department of Information Technology and Analytics at the Kogod School of Business in American University invites applications for open-rank, non-tenure track faculty positions in the areas of database, analytics and artificial intelligence starting in January 2026. Qualifications. Ideally, candidates will have (1)Ph.D., MBA, MS or related graduate or terminal degree from a nationally-accredited institution in disciplines related to database, analytics, AI, or a closely related field; (2) University-level teaching experience in those areas; (3) Strong commitment to high-quality pedagogy, including currency in teaching content, methods, and instructional technology (3) Curricular and program development experience; and (4) Ability to work in teams and commitment to serve the school.

Responsibilities. These include (1) High-quality undergraduate and graduate teaching; (2)Student academic advising and mentoring; (3) Currencyin the scholarly basis of teaching areas; (4) Participation in department, school, university, and professional activities.
Initial appointments are typically at the rank of Professorial Lecturer for one year and renewable subject to satisfactory review/performance and budgetary approval. Ranked renewable term faculty are eligible to be considered for promotion subject to the appropriate qualification and promotion requirements. The standard teaching load for term faculty is six courses per year. In compliance with DC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000.
