About the Role

Electrical engineers at Sierra Space research, design, develop, test, certify, deploy and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You’ll conceptualize and design new products and processes throughout the product lifecycle from analog and digital electronic circuit card assemblies to fully integrated systems.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the routing of harnesses on satellite programs.
- Serve as the point of contact responsible for guiding the completion of all harness routing in large zones to meet Flight Release due dates.
- Prioritize harness completion to support the build schedule.
- Quickly turn around preliminary harness designs for proposals.
- Propose innovative solutions to design challenges.
- Attend and actively participate in cross-functional meetings.
- Communicate and collaborate with the team to ensure the integrity of harness designs meets specifications and requirements.
- Provide direction and design guidance to less-experienced routers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
- Experience with Computer Aided Engineering tools
- Progressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
- The willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work experience on Satellites, Spaceplanes
- Lead Router or Zone Captain experience
- Experienced with NX2312 (Xcelerator) Routing tools, TeamCenter & Mentor Graphics (Capital)
- Experience concepting harness routing designs for multiple installations
- Experience taking preliminary designs to Flight Release status
- Experience with configuration management
Exposure to simulations through functional and logical models and system analysis - Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
- Experience composing and analyzing Electrical Load Analysis (ELA), circuit modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Familiarity with design requirements related to High Intensity Radiated Field (HIRF) and Indirect Effects of Lightning (IEL)
- Knowledge of industry-standard electrical design principles, to include, but not limited to model-based definition, electrical component selection, manufacturing, and production processes
- Familiar with Electro Magnetic Effects (EME) to include, Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI)
- Experience in digital or analog circuit design and schematic capture
- Understanding of the printed circuit board layout process and tools

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:
- Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps
- Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity
- Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

- Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)
- Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

Estimated Starting Salary Range:
$120,552.10 - $165,759.14
