Requirements
  • Ph.D. in marine biology, environmental sciences, ecology, evolutionary biology or another closely related discipline by the appointment start date
  • minimum one year experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in natural sciences
  • excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
  • ability to work with global student populations
Responsibilities
  • Be the instructor of record for five courses that are part of the current curriculum or new courses developed to serve the needs of the department's rapidly evolving and growing programs
  • collaborate with the Department Chair, Associate Chair, Graduate Program Director and Faculty Heads to identify new course needs
  • perform service contributions as part of workload distribution after discussion with the Chair, which may include academic advising, program development, curriculum development, and committee appointments
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with the R programming language for teaching or research is encouraged but not required
  • Experience leveraging connections with government, industry, or non-profit organizations to enhance experiential learning opportunities for students is strongly encouraged
  • Candidates who can offer field trips as part of the curriculum are desirable
