Requirements
  • RV Technology: Certification in Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or Registered Technologist in Vascular Ultrasound (RT(VS)) through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required prior to hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Current certification or registries as RDMS in Abdomen/OB-GYN or RT(S) is acceptable, however the sonographer must obtain vascular registry within 12 months of date of hire.
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited Vascular Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Ultrasonography program is preferred.
  • Work Experience: 4-6 years is noted in the job posting.
Responsibilities
  • Perform the daily routine and diagnostic vascular procedures as ordered by the Physician.
  • Consistently produce vascular scans of optimal diagnostic quality on patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in vascular sonography exams including 2D scans, Duplex imaging, Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI), and Doppler studies.
  • Perform measurements and calculations according to protocol.
  • Provide a written or oral summary of preliminary findings and report abnormal findings (if immediate attention is indicated) to the interpreting Radiologist.
  • Apply appropriate patient care and recognize patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.
  • Be responsible for the safety and well-being of all patients in the department.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the health care team.
  • Be dependable, accountable, and cooperative.
  • Follow all established Ultrasound, Radiology and Hospital Policies and Procedures and be proficient in exams both within and outside of the Department.
  • Conduct basic equipment maintenance, quality control measures, and other administrative, technical, or supervisory tasks as required.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited Vascular Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or Ultrasonography program is preferred.
  • Work Experience: 4-6 years of experience in vascular sonography is preferred.
