Responsibilities
  • Acquire German-speaking and international authors for the popular nonfiction program segment.
  • Develop book ideas and concepts based on current trends and market developments, including collaboration with the data analytics team.
  • Develop target-group-oriented marketing strategies for titles and build author brands.
  • Collaborate with authors, scouts, publishers, and agencies in German-speaking markets and internationally.
  • Plan and manage book projects, including collaborative leadership of cross-functional project teams.
  • Edit and oversee translated and original manuscripts and coordinate external staff.
  • Develop title wording, flap copy, and preview texts, and create cover briefs.
  • Present book projects at internal meetings and external events.
  • Work closely with the team, program management, and publishing management.

Ataraxis AI raises $20M to predict cancer outcomes and reduce unnecessary chemotherapy

Ataraxis AI has raised $20.4 million in a Series A round led by AIX Ventures to commercialise its cancer treatment prediction technology. Thiel Bio, Founders Fund, Floating Point, Bertelsmann, Giant Ventures and Obvious Ventures also participated. The company previously raised $4 million in seed funding. The startup analyses high-resolution images of cancer cells using AI trained on hundreds of millions of images from thousands of patients. According to Ataraxis, its technology is 30% more accurate than current standards for breast cancer care. Bertelsmann reports $1.1B profit and $21.3B revenue for 2025, maintains $26.9B growth target

German media giant Bertelsmann reported €1 billion profit for 2025, unchanged from the previous year, with revenue stable at €19 billion. Chief executive Thomas Rabe described it as a "solid financial year" for the company, which owns RTL Group, Penguin Random House and BMG music label. Adjusted operating profit reached €3 billion, slightly below 2024's €3.1 billion, primarily due to exchange rates and portfolio changes including the sale of RTL Nederland.
