Requirements
  • A high school diploma is required.
  • Laboratory experience is helpful but not required.
  • Basic computer skills are helpful.
  • Reliable attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • The employee must pass a job-specific Physical Ability Test.
  • The employee must be able to work in an industrial plant environment with noise and temperatures of 40° to 50° Fahrenheit.
  • The employee must be able to climb stairs up to 20 feet daily.
  • The employee must be able to perform repetitive reaching, pushing, and pulling movements, including pushing or pulling an average weight of 5 to 10 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to stand for prolonged periods on concrete and/or metal grating and perform climbing, standing, stooping, twisting, lifting, and other physical movements.
  • The employee must be flexible to work different shifts and days when required.
Responsibilities
  • Comply with Quality and Food Safety Management standards and systems to support continual improvement and the effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System.
  • Comply with the DATW Quality Assurance Manual and purchased product specifications when grading products for manufacturing use.
  • Grade incoming frozen, dry, and liquid ingredients, including packaging materials.
  • Collect product samples and grade them for defects, color, character, and size according to product specifications and procedures.
  • Perform foreign-material inspections as part of the grading process.
  • Pull product samples for microbiological and pesticide analysis according to procedures.
  • Notify DATW Quality Assurance management of quality issues.
  • Follow safety procedures and practices and company policies and procedures.
  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices in the laboratory and on the production floor.
  • Complete and monitor Quality Control Receiving records.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor or department manager.
