Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
  • Two years of fundraising experience, including gift solicitation experience, are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to solicit and close gifts of $25,000 or more is required.
  • A commitment to the ideals of the University of St. Thomas's Catholic intellectual tradition and mission is required.
  • Successful completion of a background screening is required as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
  • Work with Prospect Development to identify prospects with capacity for gifts greater than $25,000.
  • Maintain a balanced and mature portfolio of pre-major and major gift prospects across qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship stages.
  • Work with Prospect Development to continually refresh the portfolio and implement strategies to move prospects through the cultivation cycle toward solicitation.
  • Conduct regular outreach to qualify prospects through face-to-face visits and other substantive contacts and confirm gift capacity.
  • Meet specified annual metrics for visits and substantive contacts.
  • Solicit a subset of portfolio prospects annually for gifts based on capacity.
  • Collaborate with Donor Relations to develop and implement stewardship programs for gifts and prospects above the $25,000 level.
  • Mine prioritized unit-level prospect pools for qualification outreach and seek referrals from prospects, donors, and event attendees.
  • Assist in developing and implementing an annual engagement plan for current and prospective prospects and donors.
  • Ensure that events and communications pieces are regularly scheduled throughout the year with appropriate post-event follow-up.
  • Assume responsibility for logistics associated with meetings and events while working with University Advancement events staff.
  • Work with the Engagement Center to develop high-touch and mass engagement strategies to increase prospect engagement with the university and cultivate gifts.
  • Submit an annual plan outlining proposed solicitations and strategies for each fiscal year.
  • Gain familiarity with university and unit fundraising priorities to facilitate meaningful donor discussions.
  • Continually refresh institutional and unit knowledge through reading and research, attendance at university and unit functions, and team and one-on-one meetings with colleagues.
  • Enter timely reports on all donor outreach attempts and contacts, including detailed reports on face-to-face visits and other substantive contacts, using Salesforce.
  • Plan and organize the local travel schedule.
  • Prepare reports for the supervisor and University Advancement leadership as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work-related expenditures.
