Basic Purpose
Develops and fosters customer relationships and innovative solutions to connect large customer projects to utility system that exceed customer expectations while adapting to changing regulatory environments, managing risk, and maximizing distribution and transmission system utilization. Integrates utility business planning, strategic opportunities, and business relationships to grow distribution business via regional business plans. Works with minimal supervision.
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in engineering, construction management, or related field and 7 years of related experience in utility design and/or utility experience, 2 or more years of project management experience.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 11 years of related experience in utility design and/or utility experience, 2 or more years of project management experience.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of:
- Utility operations as it pertains to business development
- Understand and interpret business contracts, utility rates, customer facilities and delivery issues.
Demonstrated skill such as:
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential new customers.
- Directing, coordinating, and reviewing the work of multi-discipline project team.
- Interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment. No special physical demands required.
NOTE:
Depending on qualifications of applicants, this position may be filled at a lower level than that which is posted such as Sr Project Manager, Project Manager, Associate Project Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary contact for large new retail customer requests for connection to the distribution and transmission system.
- Coordinates the project development team, including stakeholders and functional group members as the project requires.
- Works with customers and stakeholders to develop and evaluate project alternatives.
- Coordinates development of project plans, including project scope, cost estimates, schedule and cash flow including consideration for safety, environment, land use, regulation, human resources, communication, procurement, reliability, quality and risk.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulations and rules as set by the Public Utility Commission of Nevada. Assists with the development of new tariffs, internal policies and procedures in support of large retail service.
- Develops and negotiates plans for complex and sensitive business arrangements involving contract negotiation/interpretation, Rule No. 9 applicability and other rules and/or regulations related to large customer retail service.
- Coordinates project close-out, including final acceptance of project deliverables; transfer of ownership; status of project id; project accounting audit and true-up; and final project report.
- Provides written and oral testimony in support of applicable legal, legislative and regulatory proceedings.
- Leads, motivates, supports, and assists indirect reports to identify, develop, and implement project development strategies and programs and respond to the needs of external and internal customers.
- Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Pay Range: $117,400 - $146,700 Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company.
