Job Description

The Griffith Centre for Mental Health is a leading research centre dedicated to improving mental health outcomes through evidence-based research, clinical innovation, and strong partnerships with health services and communities.

This exciting opportunity sits within nationally significant research programs focused on improving access to effective treatments for children and young people experiencing obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), including major projects funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow (Grade 1) to join the Centre for Mental Health and contribute to the delivery of two major nationally funded clinical research programs focused on child and adolescent OCD. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting research delivery, project coordination, intervention and assessment activities, and the development of high-impact research outputs.

Here’s how you’ll make it matter:

• Contribute to the delivery of research objectives across the Centre's major mental health research projects.
• Coordinate research activities, assessments, and intervention delivery within clinical trials.
• Prepare publications, presentations, and research reports arising from project outcomes.
• Develop a strong publication record in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals and contribute to competitive grant applications.
• Assist in the supervision and mentoring of Honours and Higher Degree Research students.
• Supervise Research Assistants involved in trial activities.
• Ensure compliance with ethical, safety, and university policies and procedures.
• Champion professionalism, integrity, and collaboration in line with the University's values and Code of Conduct.

This is a full time, fixed term position until August 2029 primarily based at Griffith University Gold Coast campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Research Fellow Grade 1 range $91,705 - $107,420 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $107,295 - $125,682 per annum.

You will also have:

• PhD in Psychology or an equivalent qualification and/or relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated experience in child and adolescent mental health research and practice.
• Experience delivering evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions.
• Registration or Provisional Registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Strong project management, organisational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams.
• Demonstrated commitment to research excellence and publication outcomes.
