Requirements
  • Completion of a Radiology Technology, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy program.
  • No experience is required.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • One of the following certifications is required: ARRT-R Radiography, ARRT-T Radiation Therapy, ARRT-N Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, ARRT-CT Computed Tomography, or a Computed Tomography credential from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
  • The role requires constant standing and walking, frequent near and distance vision, hearing and oral communication, frequent lifting or pushing and pulling objects weighing 0–25 pounds, frequent patient lifting or movement, reaching, gripping, keyboard use and data entry, occasional lifting or pushing and pulling objects weighing 25–50 pounds, occasional color identification, occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting and repetitive limb movements, and rare kneeling and sitting.
Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of imaging examinations used in the diagnostic treatment of illnesses and injuries.
  • Work at least 30% of full-time equivalent in a secondary modality to be eligible for a multiple-modality job.
  • Position patients and accurately select anatomic and technical parameters.
  • Implement radiation protection and safety standards.
  • Prepare for, perform and assist physicians with special and advanced procedures.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure that all activities comply with regulatory agency standards.
  • Promptly submit high-quality images and documents to the Picture Archiving and Communication System, including image quality, correct lead markers and patient data or history.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms and film storage areas.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
