The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Marketing and Communications Specialist to support the implementation and execution of strategic marketing and communications efforts that advance college priority areas and programs across both academic and advancement portfolios. This includes messaging, development of supporting assets, and outreach to targeted audiences. As part of the Strategic Communications and Marketing team—and a member of the college’s Advancement team, which supports alumni relations, fundraising, and stakeholder engagement—the specialist will work collaboratively within the college and university to contribute significantly to amplifying the college's voice and strengthening its connection with target audiences, including current and prospective students, alumni, donors, Veterinary Medical Center clients, and others.
Duties of the Position include:
- Leading academic marketing initiatives to support college strategic priorities in partnership with college and program leadership, which includes planning, developing, implementing and measuring the progress of marketing plans.
- Managing the development, implementation and coordination of various internal and external marketing and communications tactics, messages and materials.
- Creating and developing print, electronic and web communications about college people, programs and initiatives for university and external audiences.
- Supporting initiatives to achieve results and development of partnerships with various stakeholders inside and outside the college.
- Monitoring best practices in marketing and communications and developing an understanding of target audience needs.
The marketing and communication specialist must be comfortable collaborating and interacting with faculty, staff, students and other colleagues at the college and throughout the university. The marketing and communications specialist should be an eager learner and innovator who takes initiative in seeking opportunities to establish the college’s reputation as a model comprehensive college of veterinary medicine. This position offers a wide array of experiences in various aspects of marketing and communications and the chance to be part of a dynamic veterinary community.
Additional Information:
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field.
· 2+ years of experience in creating and managing engaging content across various digital
platforms.
· Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong understanding of brand voice and messaging.
· Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in higher education is preferred, experience as part of a communications and marketing team is a plus. Strong project management and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate clearly while balancing and prioritizing multiple work streams and deliverables in a flexible and fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience working on a collaborative team with limited resources to execute team goals. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to excellence in work.
