Requirements
  • A master's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartership with the Institute of Civil Engineers or Structural Engineers.
  • A desire to work on technically challenging, safety-critical infrastructure projects.
  • An interest in or experience with client-facing consultancy work.
  • A collaborative growth mindset and willingness to work across disciplines.
  • Technical experience, relative to time in industry, in code-based assessment using Eurocode, American Society of Civil Engineers, or American Institute of Steel Construction standards; structural tools such as Robot, Ansys, Abaqus, or Tekla; seismic or dynamic structural analysis; site-based or structural inspections; hazard analysis and requirement quantification; authoring or approval roles for safety case documentation; geotechnical design or groundwork assessments; inspection regimes and Construction (Design and Management) compliance; and working with and delivering to NEC or Royal Institute of British Architects contracts and drafting relevant documentation.
  • Seismic Qualification User Group accreditation.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and shape projects, including managing projects from scoping to delivery.
  • Engage directly with clients to define project needs and opportunities and develop long-term relationships.
  • Contribute to the direction and development of the team’s capability, including mentoring junior engineers.
  • Lead development of capability relative to the specialist area and own the development of opportunities and workstreams in that space.
  • Bolster existing Seismic Qualification User Group and seismic characterisation or assessment capability, or probabilistic analysis capability.
  • Deliver consultancy across structural verification and code assessments, hazard assessment and validation studies, concept development and feasibility analysis, civil/mechanical interface definition and integration, beyond-code assessments and safety case development, structural inspections and regulatory compliance, and life-extension studies including degradation mechanism analysis.
