Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including rules of composition and grammar
  • Strong verbal communication, listening and interviewing skills
  • Ability to research highly technical information and interpret data
  • Experience with DITA XML-based architecture
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees
  • Good time management and organizational skills

  • Experience with S1000D and style guides a plus

  • Candidate must have or be able to obtain a government security clearance of SECRET
Responsibilities
  • Scheduling, planning, estimating, customer support, and product delivery
  • Developing, modifying, and reviewing Naval shipboard technical documentation and U.S. Navy Technical Manuals
  • Writing, editing, and reviewing technical materials in support of maintenance, repair, testing, product improvement, and/or alteration of Naval Ship Systems and Equipment
  • Participating in peer reviews of the work of other technical writers
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with MBPS (Model Based Product Support) a plus
  • Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML)
