Requirements
  • Associates degree in human service related field and three years’ paid human service experience
  • or Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in human service related field
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • NYS motor vehicle license, safe driving record and availability of personal vehicle for work
  • Advanced Counselor CASAC or other Qualified Health Professional as defined by Office of Addiction Services and Supports Operating Regulations
  • Basic Computer Literacy evidenced by ability to go online and conduct basic searches, check email, create and send emails with attachments, and use simple email features; can open spreadsheets and word processing documents to read and make simple edits
  • Basic Microsoft Word skills evidenced by ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts, read and spell check, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files
Responsibilities
  • Assist supervisor in providing leadership and management of the unit/program, including organization and supervision of services, staff and facilities
  • Serve as person in charge of the unit/program during the immediate supervisor’s absence
  • Assist manager to ensure adherence to state certification regulations, funding requirements and other applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Assist manager to supervise recordkeeping within unit and ensure documentation meets regulatory and funding requirements
  • Assist manager to facilitate case reviews and provide oversight quality and objectivity in the quality of services for the client
  • Manage the therapeutic community and facility/facilities during scheduled shifts when the immediate supervisor is off duty, taking PTO or on extended leave
  • Perform specific managerial duties delegated by the immediate supervisor to assist with effective functioning of the unit
  • Provide individual and group counseling; and training and support to clients in skills of independent and responsible living
  • Assist in the daily operation of the residence (e.g., light housekeeping, cooking, food and supply purchasing)
  • Coordinate services to clients with other community service providers and with families or significant others
  • Provide individual and group based support and activities to promote recovery and respond to crises
  • Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies
  • Provide information about the community and natural supports and how to use these in the recovery process
  • Assist guests/clients in developing individual support plans
  • Provide supervision of medication to clients and adhere to medication policies and procedures
