Requirements
  • A high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential, or 10 years of work experience, or graduation from an accredited school of nursing or an education equivalency for licensing is required.
  • Either prior operating room experience, graduation from an approved surgical technician program, or graduation from an accredited school of nursing or an education equivalency for licensing is required.
  • A Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • The role requires constant vision, hearing, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, and walking; frequent patient lifting or moving, bending, stooping, reaching, gripping, speech, and close vision; occasional lifting or carrying over 50 pounds, sitting, squatting, twisting, repetitive movements, and keyboard use; and rare kneeling.
Responsibilities
  • Practice and implement the technical components of patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Collaborate with the Registered Nurse and other healthcare professionals to implement a prioritized, timely, and integrated plan of care incorporating physician preferences, nursing assessments, and diagnostic data.
  • Prepare equipment, supplies, and resources based on an individualized plan of care, and re-evaluate and modify resource needs as needed.
  • Communicate accurate and timely patient information to the Registered Nurse.
  • Perform all aspects of a variety of surgical procedures and properly operate surgical equipment and instruments using appropriate aseptic technique.
  • Follow laboratory policies and procedures to correctly handle and label laboratory specimens.
  • Document quality controls thoroughly and accurately according to unit-specific standards.
  • Apply problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and team-building skills and serve as a resource to other team members.
  • Organize and use time efficiently, prioritize appropriately, and maintain an organized work environment.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
