What You Will Be Doing

The identifeye HEALTH Internship Program provides an opportunity for students and early career professionals to gain valuable industry experience, allowing them to develop technical skills, hone professional etiquette, learn from industry leaders, identify potential career paths and apply their academic knowledge.

Interns will have the opportunity to contribute to the exciting work happening within identifeye, build long lasting professional relationships with our team and most importantly - have fun!

The Mechanical Engineering Internship provides an opportunity for individuals to gain hands-on experience in an R&D setting, while contributing to the exciting engineering work happening at identifeye. We’re looking for someone who enjoys hands-on work, who has a strong curiosity about how things function, has a history of taking things apart, enjoys learning, and has experience with hardware projects. Areas of contribution include mechanical design, prototyping, testing, assembly, and quality control. Mentorship from senior engineers of many different backgrounds is available to strengthen and expand your skills and introduce you to new challenges.

As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be to:

• Assist in investigating and developing new medical products and technologies
• Mechanical subcomponent design, testing and assembly
• Mechanical jig design, testing and assembly
• Testing and documentation of production units for V&V
• Assembly and testing of prototypes
• Assist with everyday engineering lab work

Internship roles are temporary, and will run for approximately 12 weeks. This role is based around a full-time schedule of 40 hours/week. Start and end dates can be flexible. This role must be able to work onsite in our Guilford, CT office. If not local, must be relocated prior to start of the internship.

What We Are Looking For

Baseline Skills, Experiences, & Attributes:

• Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Advanced degree is a plus, but not required.
• Experience with reading mechanical drawings
• Knowledge of 3D Solidworks or other 3D CAD Software
• Experience prototyping mechanical and electromechanical assemblies
• Experience using machining and prototyping tools (lathe, mill, bandsaw, CNC, etc.) and 3D printers
• Strong desire for practical “hands on” work
• Self-motivated and able to work independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent engineering documentation skills and attention to detail
• Experience with data collection and analysis
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of FEA for Stress Analysis of mechanical systems
• Experience with laser cutters
• Experience with MATLAB, python, or C++
