Aug 7: Cloudflare shares rose before the bell on Friday after the cloud services firm raised its annual forecasts, betting that resilient AI-driven demand will sustain traffic across its network. Quarterly results of Cloudflare, whose shares were last up 16.2 per cent at $330.51, follow Amazon.com's strongest cloud growth in more than four years. Amazon noted that it won't have enough capacity to meet all demand in 2026. The two reports underscore that software companies remain key winners of the ongoing scramble to build AI infrastructure. Cloudflare now expects full-year revenue of $2.86 billion to $2.87 billion, up from its prior expectation of $2.805 billion to $2.813 billion. The new forecast, released after markets closed on Thursday, exceeds analysts' average estimate of $2.81 billion, according to LSEG-compiled data. Analysts at Morgan Stanley said the company's Workers developer platform was its fastest-growing segment, amid a shift toward a usage-based model, expecting the company to exceed its outlook. Cloudflare's also increased its adjusted per share earnings forecast to a range of $1.25 to $1.26 from its earlier estimate of $1.19 to $1.20. Analysts also highlight that Cloudflare stands to benefit as cybersecurity becomes more necessary as cutting-edge AI models reshape the cyber-risk landscape. Cloudflare shares have gained over 44 per cent so far this year, compared with a near-77 per cent rise in rival CrowdStrike and a 95 per cent jump in Palo Alto Networks. The stock trades at over 190 times its forward price-to-earnings ratio, compared with over 145 for CrowdStrike, according to LSEG-compiled data. Virtual AI red teaming game in collaboration with AWS, AI Unlocked: Agents of Chaos, helps organizations experience and secure the new enterprise attack surface - AI agents. CrowdStrike announced AI Unlocked: Agents of Chaos, a $100,000 AI security challenge in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this virtual game, players use prompt injection and other techniques to manipulate AI agents weaponized by a fictional adversary and stop them before they strike, learning firsthand how agents can be exploited in enterprise environments and what it takes to secure them. "Prompt injection, agent hijacking, and rogue AI behavior aren't theoretical anymore. Agents are already breaking containment and taking actions no one authorized," said Jennifer Johnson, chief marketing officer at CrowdStrike. "The security community has to learn how to stop these novel threats. AI Unlocked: Agents of Chaos is an interactive and educational way to gamify that challenge, giving defenders a hands-on experience, with 100,000 reasons to play." Above Security has secured a strategic investment from the CrowdStrike Falcon Fund and announced integration with the CrowdStrike Falcon platform. The deal builds on the companies' existing partnership and follows Above's recent $50 million funding round led by Ballistic Ventures, Merlin Ventures, and Norwest. Above's AI-native platform analyses behaviour across identities, applications, and data movement to deliver insider risk investigations. Through the integration, CrowdStrike customers can extend their Falcon deployment to power insider risk investigations using Falcon Next-Gen SIEM telemetry. Earlier this year, Above was selected from nearly 1,000 applicants for the CrowdStrike Cybersecurity Startup Accelerator and placed as runner-up at the live finals during RSAC 2026. North Korea-linked attackers compromised at least 131 Mastra AI framework packages on npm, the Node Package Manager owned by Microsoft's GitHub. CrowdStrike reported the breach on 3 August, revealing that stolen maintainer credentials allowed publication of poisoned versions containing the malicious easy-day-js dependency. The malware executed during installation, exposing developer machines and build pipelines to credential theft and remote code execution. CrowdStrike found that 87% of software-registry threats in the first half of 2026 involved npm packages. CrowdStrike's fiscal Q1 2027 revenue grew 26% to $1.39 billion, whilst annual recurring revenue rose 24% to $5.51 billion. The company's market value stands at roughly $190 billion. Microsoft disclosed detections across its Defender product line following a 17 June investigation.
Jim Cramer expressed confidence in cybersecurity stocks, particularly Palo Alto Networks and CrowdStrike, predicting continued strong performance. Palo Alto's shares have risen 91% over the past year, whilst CrowdStrike's stock has gained 67%. Cramer highlighted both companies' involvement with the Open Secure AI Alliance, established by NVIDIA to develop open technologies for AI development. He believes cybersecurity firms will benefit from AI's demand for data and computing resources, alongside threats to US infrastructure. CrowdStrike reported 26% annual revenue growth to $1.39 billion, with annual recurring revenue reaching $4.92 billion through a 23% increase. However, analysts debate whether the company's 151 forward price-to-earnings multiple is justified, particularly as it remains unprofitable on a GAAP basis. Palo Alto Networks trades at a 78.74 P/E multiple.
