Purpose
The Meadows Center for Preventing Educational Risk (MCPER) in UT Austin’s College of Education seeks applicants for a reading intervention position in central Texas. Specific duties include delivering reading instruction in small groups to 1st grade students with reading difficulties, monitoring student progress, maintaining records of intervention activities, and assisting with assessments.The interventionist will assist with the SR2 Project. Applicants will serve the Austin, Round Rock, and Hutto areas. Training and coaching on specific reading intervention materials will be provided.
Responsibilities
Providing the UFLI reading intervention to central Texas 1st graders in groups of 3-5 students.
Keeping record of intervention activities.
Assessing student progress.
Required Qualifications
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; strong organization skills and attention to detail. Working effectively with a diverse population of colleagues and students is essential. Ability to use and troubleshoot technology is
required. Knowledge of how to use Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word), use of the internet, and proficiency with laptops are required. Bachelor’s degree and at least one year teaching children.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Elementary teaching certification and/or experience providing reading instruction to elementary school children.. Experience with the UFLI reading intervention program. Bilingual (Spanish/English). 3 years of relevant experience.
Salary Range
$19/hr - $25/hr

Availability 4 days per week is required (hours per day will vary depending on school decisions and the needs of the project).
