Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related STEM field is required, although appropriate experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant systems administration experience is required.
  • The candidate must possess an active Secret clearance before starting.
  • The candidate must possess an IAT Level II Baseline certification.
  • The candidate must have experience managing virtual environments such as VMware ESXi, vSphere, or vCenter.
  • The candidate must have strong working knowledge of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects.
  • The candidate must have hands-on experience administering Linux environments, specifically Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Ubuntu.
  • The candidate must have experience with vulnerability scanners such as ACAS, Nessus, or SCAP Compliance Checker.
  • The candidate must be familiar with patch management software such as WSUS, Tanium, or Ansible.
  • The candidate must be able to lift and rack standard IT equipment weighing up to 35–40 pounds, work under raised-floor environments, and navigate laboratory and server-room spaces.
  • The candidate must be flexible enough to participate in an on-call rotation or periodic work outside standard business hours for system patching and upgrades.
Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers, including Windows Server 2019/2022, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Ubuntu, as well as enterprise workstations.
  • Administer essential network services, including Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, Domain Name System, and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.
  • Maintain and optimize VMware ESXi environments, vCenter Server, and associated virtual infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime.
  • Implement, test, and maintain data backup, disaster recovery, and system replication plans.
  • Assist in managing network-attached storage and storage area network configurations.
  • Review, assess, and patch vulnerabilities identified by automated scanning tools such as ACAS and Nessus.
  • Apply Defense Information Systems Agency Security Technical Implementation Guides to operating systems, browsers, and application enclaves to ensure compliance with the Risk Management Framework and NIST SP 800-53 standards.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity professionals to compile and maintain Risk Management Framework-compliant documentation, system security plans, and configuration management logs.
  • Implement and troubleshoot Public Key Infrastructure and Single Sign-On configurations.
  • Develop and refine administrative scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible to automate recurring tasks, patching schedules, and security configuration baselines.
  • Provide configuration and basic troubleshooting support for enterprise switches, firewalls, and secure local area network connections.
  • Use the support ticketing system, such as ServiceNow, to manage customer requests and system projects.
  • Deliver advanced technical troubleshooting, end-user training, and incident resolution for escalated helpdesk requests.
  • Draft and maintain system administrator manuals, standard operating procedures, and system architecture diagrams using tools such as Microsoft Visio.
  • Provide support requiring minimal domestic travel, up to 10%, to secondary contractor sites or exercise events.
Desired Qualifications
  • Direct experience supporting United States military and agency programs in Huntsville, Alabama.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery environments and tools such as GitLab, Ansible Automation, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
  • An active Server+ certification.
