Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in a clinic or healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Must successfully pass the annual competency assessment.
  • Must be computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office products, and able to use the Internet.
  • Must maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy and HIPAA requirements.
  • Must be able to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the rationale for appropriate patient care.
  • Must maintain interpersonal relationships with coworkers and other members of the healthcare team and organization.
  • Must provide customer service in accordance with the organization's mission.
  • Must be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, talking, hearing, and occasionally lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as needed and work around hazardous materials and patients or members of the public with communicable diseases.
Responsibilities
  • Interview patients; measure pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; update medication lists and allergies; and enter information in the electronic health record.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keep rooms clean, and dispose of room trash.
  • Maintain consistent patient flow by monitoring the scheduling system.
  • Perform routine point-of-care testing.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and inventory medical supplies and materials.
  • Transport specimens, equipment, or supplies using appropriate and safe techniques.
  • Support providers in caring for patients.
  • Provide diagnosis-appropriate education as directed by the nurse or provider.
  • Perform phlebotomy and radiology duties when grandfathered under the stated eligibility provision.
  • In long-term care settings, handle registration and insurance-related collection, entry, and verification, and scan documents into the electronic medical record.
  • Perform all duties, services, and documentation in compliance with CHC/SEK policies and procedures.
  • Communicate through appropriate channels and use the proper chain of command for patient complaints.
