Requirements
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred
  • A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA required
  • NIHSS stroke scale certification from AHA required if unit required
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for adequate and appropriate staff assignments based on the needs of the surgical case
  • Provide constructive feedback and direction to CTMs
  • Administer equitable and objective constructive feedback for the CTM yearly evaluation
  • Address behavioral and performance issues and consult with the CSL and manager
  • Work closely with the Perioperative Leadership to standardize and systemize perioperative operations
  • Collaborate with leaders throughout MUSC Health to establish operating procedures and enhance workflows
  • Increase productivity and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within the perioperative setting
  • Provide direction to the team following AORN best practices and guidelines
  • Coordinate and collaborate with SPD leadership to create and maintain a culture of teamwork and safety
  • Lead/Co-Lead the Working Specialty Groups (WSGs)
  • Ensure CTMs attended regularly and communicate opportunities/issues and solutions to the local Perioperative Operations Group (POG)
  • Participate in S3/RCA events including action planning, education, and audits specific to the service
  • Work collaboratively with other Surgical Services leadership team members to provide staffing solutions
