We are looking for an Associate Art Director, with Maps focus, to be a part of our Art team. The Associate Art Director (Maps) will collaborate with the Art Director (Maps) and other team to help guide Maps through the pipeline from conception to completion; you help maintain quality standards while striving for unforgettable player experiences. The Associate Art Director (Maps) will work with Map Content Teams (Concept, World Builders, Props, Texture, and Lighting primarily), Audio and VFX departments on all map specific work.
In this role, you will provide direction and feedback for map related content and maintain high-quality and consistency across the environments. The right candidate will look for opportunities to enhance the player experience, embrace and provide constructive feedback, while being a mentor for team members. You will maintain the high-level view of the Map pipeline and provide creative solutions regarding all Map related aspects of the project.
This role will report to our Art Director (Maps).
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Art Director (Maps) other teams to help guide Maps through the pipeline from conception to completion
- Work with Map Content Teams (Concept, World Builders, Props, Texture, and Lighting primarily), Audio, and VFX on all map specific work
- Provide mentorship and coaching to junior artists and collaborate with them on specific tasks as they are related to Maps
- Provide direction and feedback for map related content and maintain high-quality and consistency across all environments
- Collaborate with Creative Director, Narrative Director, Level Design, and other Department Leads to ensure gameplay spaces are visually interesting, fun to play, and provide unforgettable experiences for the player
- Work closely with the Production team throughout map pipeline from conception to completion to ensure timelines and other needs for the Maps team are communicated effectively
- Maintain a high-level view of the map pipeline and provide creative solutions throughout the process regarding all map related aspects of the project
Requirements
- Experience as an Art Lead that has shipped at least one AAA title on Console or PC
- Demonstrated experience working on environments from concept to completion
- Demonstrated experience working with modern FPS engines (UE4, etc.) and modern art pipelines
- Strong sense of design and thorough understanding of foundational art principles
- Production sensibilities, ability to collaborate on timelines and communicate with Production, Leads and team members on task duration and prioritization
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and teaching skills
- Strong ability to interpret and adapt to general and flexible direction. Can thrive in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Proficient in Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender
- A passion for games and map building

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $140,000 - $175,000 USD
