Requirements
  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in Surveying Technology or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of job-related experience is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • The ability to work in rugged outdoor conditions, including extreme weather, remote locations, and challenging terrain, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee field survey operations, ensuring accurate data collection using GPS, total stations, levels, laser scanners, unmanned aerial vehicles and drones, and data collectors.
  • Interpret, communicate, and execute project requirements for boundary, ALTA, topographic, construction, and other survey types.
  • Develop and implement field plans to complete projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Ensure crew compliance with safety protocols, proper equipment use, vehicle operation, and public safety requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Survey Technicians by providing task assignments and technical guidance.
  • Conduct field checks and maintain accurate field notes, sketches, photographs, and daily logs to document conditions and findings.
  • Perform records research and incorporate findings into field operations as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues and oversee regular maintenance and calibration of survey instruments.
  • Coordinate with Fleet Management to ensure vehicles are stocked, maintained, and in safe working condition.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Surveyor in Training certificate is preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design software, including Autodesk and Bentley Systems, geographic information systems software including Esri ArcGIS, and other related software programs is preferred.
  • A demonstrated desire to expand knowledge and take on new responsibilities within the field is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team, are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, and other external sources are preferred.
