Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program or one year of experience in a clinical setting is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • One year of healthcare experience is preferred.
  • The employee must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • The employee must be able to bend, stoop, reach, stand, and walk during an 8–12 hour shift.
  • The employee must work around biohazards and infectious diseases and may work with hands in water.
  • The employee must be able to use and care for printers, embossers, computers, and other assigned equipment.
  • The employee must be able to organize and prioritize work and work independently and in a team setting.
Responsibilities
  • Perform basic nursing skills under the direction and supervision of the practice physician or registered nursing staff.
  • Greet and escort patients to examination rooms, obtain initial information, and record vital signs.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure cleanliness and supply availability.
  • Assist with or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
  • Schedule appointments and establish referral contacts as needed.
  • Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients about follow-up expectations.
  • Maintain required quality-control testing logs.
  • Ensure medical equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
  • Perform office administrative tasks, including answering phones, taking messages, copying, printing, data entry, cash deposits, and closing duties.
