Requirements
  • The candidate must be a current University of Virginia student.
  • The candidate must have been awarded federal work-study for the 2026–2027 academic year.
  • The candidate must be able to perform moderately heavy physical duties, including lifting and setting up equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • The candidate must hold a valid driver's license.
  • The candidate must attend mandatory Event Services staff trainings, staff meetings, one-on-one meetings with the supervisor, and other activities that may occur outside the scheduled work schedule.
  • The candidate must be available for varying daytime and evening hours Sunday through Saturday based on the student's class schedule.
  • The candidate must work assigned shifts and be willing to cover other shifts as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Support the general operations of Newcomb Hall, 1515, and associated facilities around Grounds, including student activity and academic spaces.
  • Provide front-line customer service and reception for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Complete specific projects and duties supporting the day-to-day operations of the office.
  • Provide customer service to all clients.
  • Enforce policies and procedures and ensure client compliance.
  • Ensure that the Information Desk and 1515 represent a welcoming gateway to the University of Virginia.
  • Complete daily rounds and monitor facilities.
  • Communicate problems, equipment or supply needs, and missing equipment to professional staff.
  • Provide administrative support by answering phones, greeting visitors, and providing information on events, policies, systems, and services.
  • Perform facility and equipment setups for events and meetings.
  • Monitor academic spaces and fire tables during reservations.
  • Learn and properly operate designated equipment and rentals at the Information Desk and 1515.
