Requirements
  • The candidate must understand the usage and applications of all rental equipment and services offered.
  • The candidate must have thorough knowledge of common equipment loads and how to organize them.
  • Basic computing skills are required, including use of dispatch software; Microsoft Word and Excel are a plus.
  • The candidate must recognize differences between similar products and the advantages and disadvantages of particular applications.
  • The candidate must have working knowledge of construction phases to properly advise on applications.
  • The candidate must know about state, local, and county permits and how to obtain them.
  • The candidate must have a genuine understanding of trucking to properly fill trucks to capacity.
  • The candidate must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, including no more than two minor violations within the past three years and no major violations within the past five years.
  • The candidate must be able to work with minimal manager supervision and make daily operational decisions independently.
  • The candidate must communicate effectively with customers, sales personnel, rental coordinators, service personnel, and senior leadership.
Responsibilities
  • Schedule outside hauling for deliveries and pickups that cannot be completed with company-owned vehicles.
  • Evaluate and select third-party hauling vendors based on cost, efficiency, and customer impact.
  • Maximize driver routes by scheduling 8 to 12 drivers daily so trucks are full on outbound and return trips to stores.
  • Complete timely paperwork, reporting, and invoicing.
  • Communicate daily with customers, the sales team, and rental coordinators regarding dispatched equipment.
  • Complete special assignments or projects from Rental Operations and the Sales Manager by the required time.
  • Prepare monthly and yearly trucking budgets.
  • Track delivery-fleet services and repairs and make repair decisions for delivery vehicles.
  • Advise senior leadership on fleet replacement and acquisition strategy using cost and utilization analysis to support purchasing decisions.
  • Order state and local oversize and overwidth hauling permits.
  • Communicate with the service department about equipment-related issues using established procedures.
  • Discuss customer needs and suggest suitable and safe equipment for each application.
  • Work with personnel across the organization to support customer satisfaction.
  • Provide salespeople and coordinators with information about related equipment and delivery options available in the local market.
  • Ask questions about delivery conditions, such as dock heights and narrow streets.
  • Notify customers immediately about delivery delays.
