Responsibilities
  • Perform duties related to the gastroenterological procedure process in accordance with established policies and regulations, anticipating the needs of patients, physicians, and department staff.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies, instruments, and equipment while adhering to strict aseptic techniques and standard precautions.
  • Perform routine care and cleaning of endoscopy equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by cleaning and defrosting refrigerators, removing dirty linens appropriately, cleaning and preparing patient carts, and cleaning and processing endoscopy instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain inventories and communicate needs to appropriate personnel.
  • Obtain and distribute supplies into assigned areas.
  • Maintain a neat and organized work area and prevent clutter in hallways.
  • Ensure all equipment is kept in designated areas.
  • Communicate effectively with staff members, physicians, patients, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in pre-cleaning, leak testing, endoscope cleaning and disinfection, and storage according to established protocols.
  • Maintain quality controls within the department.
  • Tear down procedure rooms at the end of the day and prepare rooms for the next day's cases, including restocking supplies.
  • Transport patients using safe techniques.
  • Assist with equipment management by troubleshooting and following up on equipment issues.
  • Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
