Requirements
  • College graduation or an equivalent combination of directly related experience and training.
  • At least three years of experience in purchasing materials and/or components and logistics at a Buyer level or higher.
  • Ability to function in domestic and foreign markets and cultures.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Commercial, legal, and financial awareness, including understanding how purchasing failures affect production and customers.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, numeracy, time-management, prioritization, attention-to-detail, and accuracy skills.
  • Availability for mandatory overtime during weekdays and weekends when required.
  • Ability to travel internationally when required.
Responsibilities
  • Acquire, purchase, and negotiate materials, components, and services for direct materials across global locations.
  • Manage approximately $60 million in annual expenditures for materials and components.
  • Purchase materials, components, and services in line with cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  • Develop purchasing strategies for key categories such as tubing, labels, and stamped parts.
  • Lead sourcing activities by completing in-depth quote and risk analyses, presenting supplier recommendations, and obtaining process sign-off for supplier selection.
  • Generate budget approval forms and justifications for production tooling, issue tooling purchase orders, and track supplier progress through mass-production preparation and PPAP submission.
  • Purchase and track prototype and PPAP materials and components.
  • Prepare and issue spot purchase orders and scheduled purchase orders.
  • Monitor and lead negotiations for purchasing contracts and agreements.
  • Monitor market conditions and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Research new suppliers, markets, and technologies.
  • Initiate, lead, and track cost-reduction activities.
  • Monitor annual forecasts and ensure supplier capacity is available for emerging needs.
  • Prepare reports and updates as required.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships and ensure effective communication.
  • Ensure compliance with company guidelines and purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Resolve invoice and receipt discrepancies.
  • Interface between suppliers and relevant departments on purchasing processes, new projects, and activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • Automotive industry experience.
  • CPM or APICS certification.
